A memorable, pull-down-your-mask retort from a fed-up Prime Minister.
During the 2021 federal election campaign, profanity spewed from unmasked protestors aimed directly at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as he campaigned to win re-election.
In one memorable moment, Trudeau was answering questions from journalists while a handful of protesters vented their spleens. These may have been some of the same Good Samaritans who saw fit to protest outside of – and on occasion block access to – local hospitals. Then, Trudeau pulled down his mask and shouted back at them: “Isn’t there a hospital you should be going to bother right now?”
Whether the angry protesters cared about, or even heard, the PM’s words, he captured the zeitgeist of the emotionally charged moment. And he did it all without speaking moistly.
